Due to backlogs on the airport we’re facing embargo’s of airlines who will not take in volume to Brazil.

We are taking steps to re-route where possible and expect to be able to clear backlogs from early next week. 

Any new shipments could still be subject to delay due to backlogs in transport and processing on the delivery side.

We will inform you when the situation will be back to normal.

The workers strike at Poste Italiane that started on Monday 18 September is slowing down the operations of international parcels and delivery.

As a results, delays are to be expected. It is not yet confirmed until when the strike will last.

Hurricane Maria is on route to the same regions as Hurricane Irma across the Caribbean and some parts of the United States of America.

Mail delivery in these regions is expected to be significantly delayed due to flight cancellation and damaged infrastructure as a result of the storms.

Due to the earthquake that struck Mexico on Tuesday, 19 September 2017, inbound and outbound postal operations are suspended until further notice at Mexico City International Airport.

Local mail delivery in the affected regions south of Mexico City, mainly Chiapas and Oaxaca, will experience delays.

The situation in the Miami International Service Centre is back to normal.

There might be some backlog that needs processing, which can cause delays.

Delivery in the south-eastern United States surrounding Miami remains impacted by the effects of the storm.

New Zealand

Due to a damaged fuel pipeline at Auckland Airport, fuel supplies to all airlines are being rationed. This leads to the cancellation of some domestic flights and flights to Australia.

Additionally, some long distance flight services are making extra stopovers to refuel outside Auckland. Outbound international mail is flowing without restrictions, but with some additional stopovers on route.

It is estimated that it will take 10 to 14 days to repair the pipeline.

There may be some delays due to these events.

The postal Office of Exchange in the Miami area is now partially reopened and is operating in a degraded mode as processing operations are impacted by the storm. Mail arriving at Miami airport for processing may be delayed. Processing and delivery in the south-eastern United States surrounding Miami is also impacted by the effects of the storm.

On Sunday 10 September, Hurricane Irma hit South Florida. Dangerous and destructive winds have impacted the south-eastern United States. The severe weather has already caused flight cancellations, road closures, affecting transport and processing in- and outbound delivery operations in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and surrounding area.

Due to the bad weather, the processing of inbound and outbound operations on New York JFK airport is experiencing problems. Given these severe circumstances, delays are to be expected.

On Tuesday 12 September 2017, a general and nationwide strike is due to take place across France. Many companies and public services will be affected, including the transport sector.

This may affect in- and outbound mail and parcel operations with possible delays as a result.

South Korea

Due to a 10-day period of national holidays, running from 30 September to 9 October 2017, there will an operational stoppage for 10 days resulting in the shut-down of the office of exchange, the domestic mail centre and delivery offices.

Delays can be expected in the processing of in- and outbound postal streams.

The Canadian Postal Exchange Office in Toronto is currently experiencing delays in its processing capacity and delivery. The delays are caused by a peak in their volumes. Canada Post and the customs authority are working on a solution. They informed us that EMS, air parcels and Express products will be prioritised over non-priority items. Canada Post will do its utmost to keep delays to a minimum.

Given these severe circumstances, delays are to be expected.

China

On August 23, Typhoon Hato hit Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, causing severe flooding. Flights at Hong Kong Airport were cancelled or delayed. In addition, road and rail traffic were disrupted.

On August 27, Hong Kong and Macau where hit by tropical storm Pakhar, causing flooding and disrupting road and air traffic.

Given these severe circumstances, delays are to be expected in mail and parcel processing and delivery.

Due to a bank holiday, the GLM facility in Southall will be closed on 28 August. As customs will also be closed on this day, no clearance will take place.

We expect a 24hrs delay to all mail and parcel streams that go via GLM. All the incoming and outgoing volumes from the bank holiday will be processed on 29th August.

We would like to inform you that it’s not possible to send any mail and parcels to Venezuela as the route has been closed off due to the political instability in the country. Currently, we are exploring alternative routes, but advise you not to send any items to Venezuela until further notice.

Italy

We would like to inform you that the Italian postal unions expanded their strike actions. After the employees in Tuscany already went on strike from July 22 to August 20, the Emilia-Romagna region now follows and start a strike from August 1 to August 21. Therefore please expect possible delays in the processing and delivery of your mail and parcel shipments to and from Italy. Apologies for any inconvenience that may be caused by this strike and we thank you for your understanding.
