What is fulfilment?

Fulfilment is the process of preparing, packing and delivering customer orders. It covers everything that happens after someone buys a product online - from receiving and storing the stock, to getting each order ready, shipping it to the customer, and handling any returns. In short, fulfilment makes sure that every order reaches the right person, on time and in good condition.

How does Spring GDS Fulfilment work?

Spring GDS Fulfilment combines warehousing, order processing and international delivery into one integrated solution. Your stock is stored in one of our European fulfilment centres, your online orders flow in automatically, and we pick, pack and ship everything through the Spring GDS distribution network - all managed in one system.

When your goods arrive at the center, they’re checked and placed into storage. As soon as a customer places an order, it’s sent digitally to our Order Management System. In the warehouse, orders are picked, scanned and packed. Once ready, each parcel is weighed and a shipping label is created automatically.

From there, the shipment enters Spring GDS cross‑border delivery network, using our global carrier partnerships to reach customers worldwide. If an item is returned, it comes back to the warehouse, is inspected and then restocked, quarantined or discarded according to your instructions.

Everything is connected through a single platform, giving you plug‑and‑play integrations with over 150 sales channels, full visibility of stock and orders, and a smooth flow from order to doorstep.

Yes! We offer both origin and destination fulfilment. This means you can choose where your stock is stored depending on your needs: either at the point of origin or closer to your customers - or both! Combining both origin and destination fulfilment is also possible.

If you want to shorten delivery times, you can store your products in one of our European fulfilment hubs located in the UK, Germany, Italy or Poland. From there, we pick, pack and ship your orders directly to shoppers in the destination.

What type of goods can I fulfil with Spring GDS?

Spring GDS is designed for fast‑moving e‑commerce products that ship in small, lightweight parcels: roughly the size of a shoebox and typically between 100g and 2kg. Our fulfilment network is ideal for brands selling items such as toys, board games, hobby supplies, basic apparel, accessories and books.

We don’t support products that require specialised handling or complex storage conditions. This includes dangerous goods, fragile or breakable items, perishable goods, personalised products, items requiring batch or lot control, high‑value goods and hanging fashion. Keeping the range focused allows us to maintain high accuracy, fast processing times and a consistent service level across all fulfilment centres.

How quickly can I get started with your fulfilment solution?

Getting started depends on a few key factors, as every fulfilment setup is different. The onboarding timeline is influenced by:

How can I track my orders and shipments?

Order and shipment tracking is available through our dedicated portals:

- fulfilment (warehouse) status can be tracked via our warehouse management system,

- shipping and delivery status is available through our shipping portal.

This means you always have visibility into both how your orders are processed in the warehouse and how they move through the delivery network. We are currently working towards a more integrated solution that will bring fulfilment and shipping statuses together in one place, making tracking even easier and more efficient in the future.

How do you handle returns?

Spring GDS manages the entire returns process as part of our fulfilment solution - from the moment a parcel is sent back, all the way to reintegrating the item into your stock. Returns flow through the same European hub network we use for outbound shipments, which keeps the process fast, consistent and efficient.

When a return arrives at one of our local hubs, it’s scanned, weighed, sorted and sent to the correct destination. We offer flexible label options: you can include a return label directly in the box, or you can use our digital returns portal where customers can request or print a label, or simply use a QR code at a parcel shop.
