Challenges
Market exploration & feasibility phase
- Conduct a comprehensive market assessment of new origin Japan and identify potential business models
- Prepare a business case, including commercial, operational, regulatory and financial aspects
- Develop and present a go/no go recommendation to senior management
- Define entry scenarios and high-level implementation approaches
Go-to-Market & implementation
- Develop a detailed go-to-market- and implementation plan following a positive go decision
- Coordinate cross-functional activities involving product management, IT, pricing, operations, supply chain, legal, finance, customer service and partner management
- Identify, negotiate with, and activate logistics business partners to establish a robust supply chain
- Adapt Spring’s standard logistics solutions to local market requirements
- Identify and onboard customers in close cooperation with the Sales team
Ongoing development & scaling
- Scale Spring’s business in Japan, building partnerships, a client base, and -where applicable- a local organization
- Support and monitor partner performance through training, operational guidance and continuous improvement
- Manage budgets related to market development and ensure efficient resource utilization
- Build and maintain a strong local network of partners, trade and business associations, industry experts and key influencers
- Report regularly to senior management on progress, risks, challenges and opportunities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field
- 7–10 Years of relevant experience in project management, market entry or new business development in an international context
- Demonstrated experience in establishing new operations within international logistics, e-commerce or related sectors, preferably in Japan
- Strong understanding of Japanese business environment, regulatory framework and cultural ways of working in Japan
- Experience in prospecting, negotiating, and finalizing agreements with business partners
- Proven hands-on mentality with the ability to move from analysis to execution
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with a pragmatic, implementation-driven approach
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to operate effectively in multicultural and multifunctional teams
- Fluency in English and Japanese (spoken and written)
- Willingness to spend approximately 30% of time in Japan (or, if based locally, to travel internationally as required)
