Italy (IT)

Reason for service alert:

New 10 May: Mail and parcels with the area of Varese (Italy) as destination are experiencing delays due to an operational issue at Poste Italiane. The following postal codes are affected: 21100, 21010 up to 21062 and 21100.

New 24 March: IT tracking issues have been resolved.

New 21 March: Mail and Parcels with destination Sardinia (Italy) are confronted with delays due to unrest at the ports. The situation is now back to normal again. It will still take some time to work away the backlogs that were created due to the unrest. Affected zip codes are 07010-07100, 08010-08100, 09010-09170.

New 17 January: Postal parcels and packets to Italy are experiencing delays due to an earlier IT issue at Poste Italiane for customs clearing during week 48, 49 and 50. Initially this related to non-EU shipments only, but unfortunately also some EU shipments from that period are affected. The delayed shipments will be processed in the coming weeks. Parcels shipped via non-postal / commercial routes are not affected.

Update 21 December: Delays in transit times due to customs IT difficulties at Poste Italiane for shipments coming from a non-EU origin to Italy.

New 15 December: Delays in transit times in Italy due to a planned national strike on Thursday the 16th of December.

Update 23 November: Due to the effects of severe weather conditions in Sicily, Poste Italiane experienced a delay between the 18th and 23rd of November. Problems are now solved.

Update 18 November: Due to IT issues with customs, Poste Italiane is experiencing a delay for non EU items.

Update 2 November: Bad weather conditions in the eastern part of Sicily have led to extensive floods. A state of emergency has been declared. As a result delivery operations throughout the island (postcodes 9****) are disrupted. Poste Italiane has declared a situation of force majeure. Updates will follow.

Update 16 July: Uncleared packets and parcels originating from non-EU countries can experience delays of up to 14 days due to data processing issues between customs and the local carrier.

Update 15 June: The workers union 'Cobas' has called for a nation-wide logistical strike to take place Friday the 18th of June in Italy. Additional delays of 1-2 days can be expected for all products to this destination on top of earlier communicated delays related to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Update 4 May: Poste Italiane has informed us that they temporarily cannot guarantee collections and deliveries for the province of Brescia, due to operational delays caused by unforeseeable and extraordinary issues. This communication is published on the official Poste Italiane website, where further relevant updates will be stated.

Update 25 March: The workers union 'Cobas' has called for a nation-wide logistical strike to take place Friday the 26th of March in Italy. Additional delays of 1-2 days can be expected for all products to this destination on top of earlier communicated delays related to the Covid-19 restrictions and customs capacity.

Update 16 March: Poste Italiane is experiencing capacity issues at their customs warehouse due to very high, unexpected parcel volumes received from countries outside the EU. There are difficulties with storing and customs clearing of incoming parcel mail items from non-EU origins, due to this the transit times will be longer. Poste Italiane is doing the best they can to clear the backlog and to get the process under control again. Please take note that the delays are only affecting items coming from non-EU origins.

Update 4 March: The workers union 'Cobas' has called for a nation-wide logistical strike to take place Monday the 8th of March in Italy. Additional delays of 1-2 days can be expected for all products to this destination on top of earlier communicated delays related to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Update 4 March: We currently experience large delays for all our volumes towards Italy. This is caused by several issues. Due to intensive customs checks all products are delayed which can measure up to 28 days. Poste Italiane is working together with customs to improve the transit times.

Update 27 January: The workers union 'Cobas' has called for a nation-wide logistical strike to take place Friday the 29th of January in Italy. Additional delays of 1-2 days can be expected for all products to this destination on top of earlier communicated delays related to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Update 14 January: Poste Italiane is unable to promise their usual service of delivery to the following postal code areas, in order to minimise the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19): Messina - 98100, San Fratello - 98075, Castel di Judica - 95040, Ramacca - 95040, Gela - 93012, Milena - 93010, Villarosa - 94010, Ravanusa - 92029, Capizzi - 98031, Santa Flavia – 90017

Resolved 25 January: Destination British Columbia in Canada does no longer face weather issues. Canada Post informed that all flows in the region are back to normal. However, other network disruptions are still active.

New 2 March: Severe storms, heavy rain and flooding across the country is causing disruptions, particularly in the states of Queensland and New South Wales. The processing and delivery of inbound and outbound mail items are affected.

New 1 February: Shipments for destination Australia are experiencing delays due to severe weather conditions in the following postal code areas: 4731, 3805, 4804 - 4852.

Update 5 April:Air capacity to Ireland has been restored.

New 28 March: Delays are expected for shipments towards Ireland due to temporary limited air capacity. Items shipped between 21/03 and 31/03 are affected. Delays are not expected on shipments sent after 31/03.

Update 10 May: Mail and parcels with destination Russia are experiencing delays due to limited air capacity. All volume is trucked.

Update 2 March: A new route has been found for the delivery of mail and parcels to Russia. We have reopened this destination and can start flying as of today.We expect delays due to backlogs but these should be cleared before the end of the week.

New 28 February: Destination Russia is closed for both mail and parcels. This is due to the closure of Russian airspace following geo-political developments related to the war in Ukraine.

Trucking alternatives are being investigated for re-opening our lane to Russia. Until there is an alternative, shipments that are underway will be stored. Shipments to Russia will be delayed, also after the alternative via road is implemented.

Greece (GR)

Update 10 May: Hellenic Post is currently not able to provide tracking information for tracked mail and parcels from week 10 to 13 due to a cyber attack. The issue is solved for week 14 and onward.

Update 5 April: Due to a cyberattack, there is no tracking information available on shipments to destination Greece. However, processing, scanning and delivery of items continues.

New 28 March: There is no tracking information available on shipments to destination Greece due to a cyberattack. Hellenic Post has been facing IT issues since a cyberattack on 20 March 2022. All systems are currently down including Internet, International Postal System and telephones. The Hellenic Post IT Department is working to resolve the situation, after which missed tracking information will be updated.

New 25 January: Destination Greece is experiencing delay in all operations due to heavy snowfalls.

Update 30 November: Delays in transit times to Greece due to transport and delivery issues.

Update 25 November: Delays in transit times to Greece due to transport issues and delivery delays at Hellenic Post.

Update 24 August: Due to technical issues with the interface between Hellenic Post and the Greek customs, it is not possible to perform customs declarations. This means that items destined for Greece, that need to be custom cleared, will face delays in customs procedures. Once the issues are resolved and customs operations are back to normal, this ISA will be put on resolved.

Update 22 April: Due to a combination of high inbound volumes, ongoing COVID-19-related staffing issues and a reorganisation programme, mail items sent through Hellenic Post Greece can expect delays of 3 to 7 days on top of common transit times.

Update 6 April: High inbound volumes and ongoing staffing challenges make that Hellenic Post are unable to process mail in a timely manner. They are currently processing mail which arrived in March and are giving priority to post originated from PostNL.
